HYDROGEN PEROXIDE (H2O2)

The dramatic advances over the past 50 years in medical science’s understanding of physiology and in its ability to monitor disease states are so profound that it is now possible to achieve a better grasp of how Light Therapy works. In turn, this provides better insight into various physiological processes as well as an opportunity to fine-tune the therapy and apply it to new indications. This allows Medical Science to achieve significantly better results than the pioneers of UVBI were able to achieve or even dreamed of achieving.

We know that without oxygen for more than a few minutes, serious consequences follow. Without oxygen, we die very quickly. Breathing oxygen is an oxidative process. There can be no life if oxidation does not occur. The body uses oxidation as the first line of defense against bacteria, virus, yeast and parasites. When we use the principals of oxidation to bring about improvements in the body, it is called a therapy, herein referred to as Oxidative Therapy.

Most biochemical reactions in the body are “Balanced” through “Redox” mechanisms. Redox means (red)duction (ox)idation. Anytime a substance is reduced (chemically changed), something else must be oxidized (chemically changed the other way) for the reactions to stay in balance. As an example, oxidation is the process that causes rust on metals (slow oxidation) or fire (rapid oxidation). In the body, some types of oxidation are thought to be harmful by producing Free Radicals. (It is suggested people take Vitamin E, an antioxidant to help reduce Free Radical formation.) We know there can be no life if oxidation does not occur. Oxidation is the process through which the body converts sugar into energy. The body also uses oxidation as the first line of defense against bacteria, virus, yeast and parasites. Even breathing OXYGEN is an oxidative process. A number of substances are known to cause oxidation in the body but the most important of these is Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2). Although a natural substance made in the body, it is still considered a drug when used in Oxidative Therapy. Hydrogen Peroxide, when exposed to your blood or other body fluids, containing the enzyme CATALASE, is chemically split into OXYGEN and water. Remember how Hydrogen Peroxide foams when you put it on a wound? The foam is OXYGEN being produced by the action of catalase on the Hydrogen Peroxide. A small amount of Hydrogen Peroxide can supply large amounts of OXYGEN to the tissue.

This therapy is administered as follows: Weak, very pure Hydrogen Peroxide (0.0375%) or lower concentration) is added to a sugar or salt-water solution, the same as used for intravenous feeding in hospitals. This is injected in doses from 50 to 500 mL into a large vein usually in the arm, slowly over a period of 1 to 3 hours depending on the amount given and the condition of the patient. It is painless, excluding the very small needle stick. Treatments are usually given about once a week in chronic illness, but can be given daily in patients with acute illness such as pneumonia or flu.

Physicians may recommend 1 to 20 treatments depending on the condition of the patient and the illness being treated. The patient is rechecked in 1 to 3 months to evaluate the benefit and determine if additional treatments may be necessary. Some patients, especially with chronic illness, may need to take follow up treatments in series of 5 to 10 treatments, or may need maintenance indefinitely on a regular monthly schedule. Several patients have been administered as many as 50 treatments without complications. An experienced physician must decide how many treatments are necessary in your individual case.

Over the past 50 years, hundreds of patients have received Hydrogen Peroxide without serious side effects. Early use of Hydrogen Peroxide was reported to occasionally cause irritation of the vein being infused. This troublesome side effect was eliminated after the concentration and rate of infusion were adjusted downward.

Ozone therapy may be administered in a variety of ways:

• Intramuscular injection: A mixture of oxygen and ozone is injected into the muscles of the buttocks.
   

• Rectal insufflation: A mixture of oxygen and ozone is introduced into the rectum and absorbed through the intestines.
   

• Autohemotherapy: Between 10-15 mL of the patient’s blood is removed, treated with a mixture of oxygen and ozone and re-injected into the patient.
   

• Intra-articular Injection: Ozone-treated water is injected into the patient’s joints to treat arthritis, rheumatism and other joint diseases.
   

• Ozonated water: Ozone is bubbled through water that is used to cleanse wounds, burns, and skin infections, or to treat the mouth after dental surgery.
   

• Ozonated oil: Ozone is bubbled through olive or safflower oil, forming a cream that is used to treat fungal infections, insect bites, acne, and skin problems.
   

• Ozone bagging: Ozone and oxygen are pumped into an airtight bag that surrounds the area to be treated, allowing the body tissues to absorb the mixture.

PRECAUTIONS:
Patients interested in oxygen/ozone therapies must consult with a physician before receiving treatment. Patients with a history of pneumothorax, chest surgery, emphysema, middle ear surgery, uncontrolled high fevers, upper respiratory infection, seizure, or disorders of the red blood cells are not suitable candidates for oxygen/ozone therapy. In addition, patients should be aware that oxygen is highly flammable. If treatments are administered incorrectly or by and unskilled person, there is a risk of fire.

SIDE EFFECTS:
Typical side effects of oxygen or ozone therapy can include elevated blood pressure and ear pressure similar to that experienced while flying. Side effects may also include headache, numbness in the fingers, temporary changes in the lens of the eye, and seizures.

RESEARCH AND GENERAL ACCEPTANCE:
Oxygen/ozone therapies are far more widely accepted in Europe than in the United States. The most intensive research in these therapies is presently being conducted in the former Soviet Union and Cuba. In the United States, the work of the Baylor researchers was not followed up. As of 2000, however, the Office of Alternative Medicine of the National Institute of Health has indicated interest in conducting clinical trials of oxygen/ozone therapies.

In Europe, ozone therapies may be administered by licensed naturopaths and homeopaths as well as by medical doctors. In the United States and Canada, only medical doctors administer oxygen and ozone treatments.

Under normal circumstances they self-destruct, taking the invader with them through a process of super oxidation (hydrogen peroxide). Infectious diseases carry toxins that prevent the natural production of hydrogen peroxide in the white “soldier” cell. The invading organism is then harbored within the white cell and although the cell continues to engulf the “invader”, it does not have the ability to destroy it. OXYCYCLENE™ works like an engine that forces the production of hydrogen peroxide within the white blood cell, resulting in the destruction of both the disease organism and the harboring white cell. Our Auto-hemotherapy is based on obtaining venous blood from the patient; this blood is then mixed with 50cc’s of a proprietary solution. The mix is then carefully prepared and refrigerated at four degrees centigrade. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is a medical treatment that used pure oxygen to speed and enhance the body’s natural ability to heal. High dose oxygen therapy is an American Medical Association, FDA and Medicare approved modality. While sometimes used as a primary emergency treatment, it is more often used as a cost effective adjunct or enhancement therapy.

Patients who may benefit from HBOT suffer from various diseases or injuries associated with hypoxia, or a lack of oxygen on a cellular level. It is at this cellular tissue level where all life takes place.

Many people might not be aware that the fresh and free oxygen we breathe daily is used effectively as a medicine.

Historically, oxygen has been scientifically researched as a therapy in medicine since before the beginning of this century.

Luckily, many developing countries are fast embracing the use of oxygen for various therapeutic purposes with great success. The use of oxygen includes both the medical (Oxygen Grade 2) and then more advanced (ozone).
The mostly used and applied kind of oxygen in medicine to date is 'Ozone' (O3). From the scientific point of view, ozone (O3) is a by-product of oxygen (O2) found in the nature. The use of oxygen/ozone traces back nearly two centuries ago when a Dutch Scientist Martinus Van Marum noted its odor and oxidizing properties in 1785. The word ozone comes from the Greek Ozein meaning, “to smell” and it was further explored in 1840 by the German Chemist Christian Schonbein.

Since then, many scientists have been worked on classifying the properties and molecular structures of oxygen since and indeed, ozone was found to oxidize certain organic compounds and interact with double carbon bonds.

The research and use of oxygen has come a long way with a lot of work being carried out in harnessing its medical/therapeutic properties. Such major efforts include research findings by a renowned German Scientist Dr Otto Warburg in 1931 who won the coveted Noble Prize in Medicine for proving successfully that cancer is an anaerobic growth. He was to win the award again in 1934 following further research findings which demonstrated that ozone offered a therapeutic solution in treating cancer conditions. Dr Warburg contribution saw him honored by the Max Planck Institute in Germany, a facility which has been spearheading the research into the ozone in medical applications in Europe.

Later, in 1935, another German Scientist, namely Erwin Payr, successfully demonstrated that ozone could in-fact be injected directly into muscles sub-cutaneously, intravenously or intra-arterially without any adverse effects on human patients. Payr was limited in the use of ozone because only natural rubber existed and the aggressive and corrosive characteristics of ozone rendered it difficult to use/apply in medical treatment procedures.

However, the development of computer technologies and infra-structural support industries/modern inert silicon plastics has meant radical breakthroughs have been achieved in administering precise deliveries and controlled doses of ozone and its allotropes to the patient, which in turn spearheaded highly calibrated medical knowledge in administering ozone treatment.

These advances in ozone and oxygen therapies allowed the treatment of such health conditions such as ulcerative colitis by rectal insufflation, initially in high doses and then lower doses to promote resolution, typically as the end result of the inflammatory process.

In the last 60 years major breakthroughs in ozone and multi-atomic oxygen (O2, O3, O4 & O8) therapies in medicine has been made courtesy of various eminent scientists, amongst them Carpendale, Montagnier, Wells, Latino, Poiesz, Shalon Burger, Shannon and Dr Kenneth Wagner.

Furthermore, major progress have largely been made due to the modern materials such as resistant plastics, which makes its possible to develop state-of-the art ozone generators and expand this field of medical science and its medical applications to include the derivatives and combinent molecular structures of oxygen {allotropes} to far greater effect {O2, O3, O4, O6 and O8} otherwise called ‘Multiatomic Oxygen Therapy', which is administers through a technology called ‘Recuircilatory Haemoperfusion’ or RHP for short.

RECIRCULATORY HAEMOPERFUSION

RHP is a highly effective treatment that is administered by highly trained personal and carefully monitored so that it does not induce any unwarranted side effects in any patient. With the patient lying in a reclined bed, 2 catheters or blood ports are inserted one into the vein in one arm and another into the vein in the other arm (legs, feet or the groin may also be used). A small amount of blood is continually withdrawn out of one arm and then flows down an blood line to a inverted dialysis filter filled with Ozone.
